Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +325 on Billy's BMT calendar.
Once again, here are what the Normal blood counts levels are:

WBC: 4.0 - 10.5
RBC: 4.20 - 5.60
Hemoglobin: 12.5 - 16.1
Platelets: 150.000 - 450.000

(6:00pm) We hope this update finds you well. Billy had a fairly good day today, although still feeling a bit weak. There were no blood counts done today, but it was obvious that his red counts are low, as is his Hemoglobin. Dr. Letson told us that he didn't have much blood loss during surgery, but his RBC are slow to rebound. Not to worry........this is "normal" *wink*. The catheter was removed from his "you know what", but the drains in his leg will remain till tomorrow. There was minimal drainage today, but they want to get as much fluid out of his leg as possible. Dr. Letson will most likely remove the pressure bandage from Billy's leg tomorrow as well. Billy is drinking on his own, and even had something to eat last night. He did seem a bit hungry, and promised that he'd have some dinner tonight.
The physical therapist came by to see Billy this morning at 9:30am! Billy was in no condition to attempt any sort of physical therapy *wink*.
BUT.......................................................... Click HERE to see Billy at 10:30am!
A picture says a thousand words!

Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +326 on Billy's BMT calendar.
(9:00pm) We hope this update finds you well. First of all, I would like to draw your attention (but most of all, your Prayers) to yet another young person diagnosed with ewings sarcoma. His Dad, Greg contacted me today. His son is 14 years old, and was diagnosed just 2 weeks ago with a tumor in his right femur just like Billy. He will be starting chemo tomorrow. I know I don't have to push the issue with you, Billy's follower's, but this Family could truly use your support. I have included a link HERE that you can access him through this forum, and leave your comments. His entry is towards the bottom of the page, so scroll down to "GREG". I will also ask him if I could add his Son to Billy's Page Prayer List.

Billy had a fairly good day today. I took some more photo's, but forgot the camera!! We found out that Billy's morphine has been on a "constant drip", which explains his groggyness! We were led to believe that it was only administered if he would push the button! ANYWAY............................They have removed the morphine this evening, and now he will take pain meds by mouth, if he should need it. Dr. Letson was "supposed" to come by to evaluate the drains in Billy's leg, but as of 8pm he hasn't arrived *wink*. Billy would Love to be free of the tubes that are inserted through his incision, so he could get around more freely.

Billy got up again today, with the help of his physical therapist, and actually walked about 20 feet with the help of his walker, of course. Billy also had a few bowls of cereal late this morning, and was gonna have a Checker Burger for dinner!! It has been over a Year since he had a "burger" from Checkers!!

Tomorrow is Alicia's "shot day", please keep her in your thought's *wink*.

Please Pray for Billy.........................and ALL children of cancer.

Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +327 on Billy's BMT calendar.
We hope this update finds you well. I would like to point your attention to a "new" link I added to Billy's Page. I mentioned our new Friend yesterday, who was diagnosed with ewings sarcoma. Well, His name is Justin, and you can visit him by clicking on his link below. Don't forget to sign his guestbook (hint). Feel free to say that "Billy sent 'ya!"

Billy had a good day today. His day started bright and early at 6:00am, as Dr. Letson came in to remove the 2 drains in Billy's leg...................yep, 6am *wink*. All that remains is an IV in Billy's right hand that will be used for one more dose of anti-biotics tonight, and then the IV will be removed tomorrow. Billy will resume his 3 daily doses of Clindamycin (300mg x 3) on Thursday, when he comes Home. Yes, we expect to bring Billy home on Thursday! Billy will have a couple weeks to recover, and then his physical therapy will start (all over again *wink*). Oh...........before I forget. Remember that Checker Burger? Click HERE!.

Please Pray for Billy.........................and ALL children of cancer.

 Wed. 26 Jan. 2005 sunny_storms 72°  Billy's Home!!

Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +328 on Billy's BMT calendar.
Billy was released to come home today, but we decided to leave him there!...................................only Kidding! Click HERE!!. Can you believe it! The power of Prayer, in the Flesh. Thank you all for your continued support, thoughts, and Prayer's. Dr. Petrovic has decided to have Billy's medi-port removed at the end of February, at the same time she does another Bone Marrow Aspiration. The plan was to do the aspiration at the 1 year mark of Billy's BMT. I guess this is close enough!! The 1 year anniversary is March 4th. Can you believe it? One year already *wink*. Billy will resume his regular Med's at home, and will no longer have to take the Ancef (500mg) he has been on since his surgery. Billy is feeling "pretty good", considering. He is happy to be home, of course; and Ama and Apa are expected some time this evening. They will be spending a few days with us, before heading down to Miami.

Please Pray for Billy.........................and ALL children of cancer.

Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +330 on Billy's BMT calendar.
Billy is feeling pretty good today. He resumed his class's yesterday, and attended tele-class this morning. Billy has been really anxious to get back to "normal", as realized in his willingness to get up and walk, a few times per day. He is still very weak, but his attitude is fabulous. He is not permitted to sit in an upright position, so he is more or less, in a reclining position in his bed. This is to prevent his femur from dis-locating from his hip socket. This restriction will be lifted as Billy heals some more. I took another photo of his surgical incision so you can have an Idea as to what was done, Click HERE! to have a peek (not for the squeemish *wink*).
Billy's next clinic visit is next Monday (Feb.7th), followed by a trip into Tampa (Moffitt Cancer Center) to see Dr. Letson (Billy's surgeon) for an evaluation.
We also received some more "positive" feedback, from another "cancer parent" in France, regarding Billy's Page. Click on "What do People Think" above, to read all about it *wink*.

Please Pray for Billy.........................and ALL children of cancer.

Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +334 on Billy's BMT calendar. Just 31 more days to the 1 year mark in Billy's BMT.
We hope this update finds you well. Billy is doing fine with his recuperation, and is up walking a few times per day. If you remember, back to his 1st surgery, it was a long 8 months of re-hab before Billy was off his crutches. Billy feels as though he'll probably reduce the length of time that he'll be walking without crutches by at least 2 months this time around *wink*. His motion's are a bit more fluid, compared to his 1st leg surgery in January of 2003, so I'll have to agree with him on this one *wink*. Billy will remain on the Clindamycin (300mg x 3 times per day), until further notice. His body has handled it well, and it has kept the infection at bay. Another infection is our biggest worry at this point, which is why Billy's medi-port will be removed at the same time the Bone Marrow Aspiration is done, at the end of this month; one less "foreign object" in his body. This scheduled aspiration (1 year post transplant) will tell us just what condition Billy's new marrow is in. Dr. Petrovic informed us during Billy's last Hospital stay, that Billy's Immune system is "Normal", and this will prove it!
We would like to thank everyone at Love Letter's Inc., for the gift Billy received yesterday. THANK YOU ALL, it is a wonderful thing you are doing for so many.

Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +336 on Billy's BMT calendar. Just 29 more days to the 1 year mark in Billy's BMT.
We hope this update finds you well. We (Alicia and I) found ourselves thinking back on the many times we saw, and talked to one of the many "Children of Cancer" we've come to know, over the last 29 months we've been fighting these "monster's" in Billy. Today, I speak of Kyle C., or should I say, I'll let his Family speak for (of) Him. Kyle lost his 6 1/2 year "WAR" with cancer a few days ago. What follow's is the Obituary that was in today's paper.

Cobb, Kyle Austin (age 9) died Friday Jan. 28th, 2005 in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Kyle had battled A.L.L. Leukemia bravely for 6 1/2 years. He had received 2 bone marrow transplants, one at All Childrens Hospital, and one at Duke. In his 9 years, Kyle lived life to the fullest, and accomplished more than most people do in a lifetime. Hiking the Colorado Rocky Mountains, fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, shagging balls at Devil Ray's games, and riding his bike; were some of his favorite past times. "The Incredible Kyle Cobb" battled bravely till the end, and he is on the Champion's List. He has touched many Lives, and will be Loved by all!
Love you Forever - Kyle!
Daddy, Mommy, Karissa, and your dog, Lexie
Grandper, Grandma Davis, and Grandma Cobb

I included this article because This is real, this is what cancer does to Families. We have been witness to so many tragedies such as this, and as each one of "Our Children of Cancer" lose their fight's, the World of Cancer gets harder and harder to live in. Please do yourselves a great big favor, the next time you see a "Bald Headed Child", Hug them with your Heart, I can assure you that they will feel it's warmth.

Sleep Well Kyle, We Love You...............

Please Pray for Billy.........................and ALL children of cancer.

Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +342 on Billy's BMT calendar. Just 23 more days to the 1 year mark in Billy's BMT.
We hope this update finds you well. Billy continue's to recover from his surgery, and he is doing "Very Well". Billy is getting around fairly well with the use of his crutches, and is also able to sit "upright" now. We had a clinic visit on Monday, but the "New System" that has been put in place at the Hospital has been a "NIGHTMARE". Not to get to upset over the outcome on Monday, I'll just say that, after sitting in the waiting room (something Billy is NOT supposed to do because of his weak immune system) for over 45 mins., Alicia was upset after she was told that "The Doctor" was in a "Meeting", and that Billy won't be seen. Alicia FREEKED, and walked out. After talking with Dr. Petrovic about this situation at the clinic, Billy was given another appoint for next Thursday morning.......................with a "DIFFERENT Dr.",.............. Dr. Petrovic. It's always the Patient who suffer's, it would be nice if everyone was on the "same page" for once.

Thank you to the Folk's at Love Letters! Billy received your package today!

Please Pray for Billy.........................and ALL children of cancer.

Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +344 on Billy's BMT calendar. Just 21 more days to the 1 year mark in Billy's BMT.
We hope this update finds you well. Billy appointment with Dr. Letson (Billy's surgeon) in Tampa (ACH / Moffitt) today went well. Dr. Letson said that Billy's leg look GREAT, and the incision is healing very well. He wants us to exercise the knee joint daily, and when Billy is able to bend the knee at a 45° angle he will start Billy's physical therapy. Billy has an appoint again with Dr. Letson in about a month, as a follow-up to the surgery. Speaking of surgery, Billy will have surgery on the 24th of this month to remove his medi-port, and to have another Bone Marrow Aspiration done. This will be one week short of the 1 year anniversary of Billy's bone marrow transplant, and was scheduled to be done at this time. This bone marrow aspiration will be the "tell all" of the condition of Billy's bone marrow. We have no reason to doubt that Billy's marrow is 100% donor, and NORMAL *wink*. Speaking of Donor, Since We are 3 weeks away from the one year anniversary (Mar. 4th), we will be given the opportunity to have contact with Billy's Donor. The process is that The transplant team at ACH will get in touch with Billy's Donor, and let him know about Billy, and that he has survived and would like to contact him. The Donor will have the option to reveal himself to us, or not. We truly hope that he will agree to meet us, and give us the chance to thank him personally, for being the biggest part in saving Billy's life. His unselfish act, and YOUR support and Prayers were key to Billy's survival.

Alicia is on her way to Miami, as we speak, to be able to attend Adriana's (Juani's Daughter) 1st Birthday tomorrow. Can you believe it!! One year already *wink*. So, it'll be Billy and I for the weekend! Alot of Burp'in and Butt scratch'in for the next few days!!

Please Pray for Billy.........................and ALL children of cancer.
