Wed. 17 Jan. 2007  Today is the 1051th day on Billy's transplant calendar.
1,578 day's living in the "World of Cancer".

Welcome back to Billy's Page, we hope this update finds you all well.
We received a phone call from the Hem/Onc team at ACH this afternoon regarding the results from the Bone marrow aspiration that was done at the time of Billy's surgery. There is 'NO' evidence of Ewings Sarcoma, or MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) in Billy's bone marrow; Billy's body is 'STILL' cancer free. As every day pass's, and we draw closer to the 'Magical' 5 year mark (Sept. 21, 2007), we'll all be able to breath a 'collective sigh of relief'. Billy's "5 year survivability rate" was put at 25%. That is, that Billy had a 25% chance to survive 5 years. Well, you all know how we feel about 'STATISTICS" *wink*. Billy's case(s) has re-written the book of statistic's, and Billy has "kicked Cancer's Ass" (excuse my language *wink*) twice...............
We are still awaiting the Cytogenetics results, but we are certain that Billy is 'STILL' 100% Donor (right George?!!)

Sun. 14 Jan. 2007  Today is the 1048th day on Billy's transplant calendar.
1,575 day's living in the "World of Cancer".

Billy and his Buddy Ian Jam in in the den Welcome back to Billy's Page, we hope this update finds you all well.
We are 'STILL' waiting for the results from the Bone marrow aspiration that was done during Billy's surgery last week. We had hoped to have some word by now, but as we alway's said from the start, "No News is Good News".
Billy is healing very well, as you can see by the photo to the left! Billy's Friend Ian spent the night and they did some "Serious Jam'in" in the Den!! Ian play's the Bass guitar, and you all know that Billy is quickly becoming a guitar Virtuoso!! They sound really good together, and I am amazed at the talent these Kid's have.
Billy received his Report Card Friday, for the 3rd six week's of School; and I am so Proud to say that he once again made the Honor Roll with 6 'A's, and 1 'B' (a 3.857 GPA), Billy has maintained his GPA for the Year. There are '6' 6 week marking Periods for the School year, which means the School Year is half over already! Boy how time fly's!
Please stop by Mark's web site, and leave a note of support in his Guest book. Mark is still in PICU, and needs your Prayer's. He is really having a rough time, as is his Family. Tell 'em Billy sent 'ya.

antibiotics are being administered brfore surgeryWelcome back to Billy's Page, we hope this update finds you all well.
We arrived at All Children's Hospital at 6:45 this morning, and it was 7 hours later, that Billy was in surgery. Yes, Billy was in surgery at 2:00 pm, and yes, we were a 'little bit' upset to say the least. While Billy was under anesthesia, a Bone marrow aspiration, and Biopsy was done from both rear hip's. Billy's surgery to lengthen his leg went well, and they were able to lengthen his leg another 1 centimeter. It will probably be a week or so before we have the results of the bone marrow biopsy and aspiration (and Cytogenetics), but we are Praying that Billy is 'STILL' 100% Donor (Thank You Geoge H.)
Oh, the photo to the left was taken as the anti-biotic was started, just before surgery (2:00pm). Thank you ALL, for your continued Support, Thought's, and Prayer's.

We sincerely hope that good health has followed you all into the New Year, and that you've all had a wonderful Holiday. Just a quick update to say that we've heard from the Hospital this afternoon, and Billy's surgery is scheduled for 10:00 am, tomorrow. We are to be at the Hospital at 6:45 am, and I hope to be able to update you as to how everything went, sometime tomorrow afternoon (late). Please hold Billy in your hearts, and Pray that this surgery will go smoothly, and without complication.

Tue. 19 Dec. 2006  Today is the 1022th day on Billy's transplant calendar.
1,549 day's living in the "World of Cancer".

Welcome back to Billy's Page, we hope this update finds you all well.
Today's Blood counts: WBC@ 8.8, RBC@ 4.64, Hemoglobin@ 14.5, platelets@ 205,000, ANC@ 3,900.
Billy had a 'routine' check-up with his Hem/Onc team this afternoon. You would not believe the reception he got from the Dr's and Staff at ACH. He got a 'hug' from just about everyone in the building, as they were so happy to see him, and just how wonderful he look's. Billy's blood counts (above) look great, and Billy's 'NEW' immune system is in full gear, with no signs of distress. Billy's Dr's can't be more pleased as to what they see.
Billy is scheduled to have his leg lengthened again next Friday the 29th. While Billy is under anesthesia, a Bone marrow aspiration will be done as well. Billy's last bone marrow biopsy was done in October of 2005, which was still 100% Donor! Thank you George H., for saving Billy's Life! We will also be scheduling all the scans (CT, Bone, MRI, ect) starting after the New Year. The Iron level's in Billy's liver have also begun to drop off, and his liver is in the healing process. You all remember the 'Scare' we had a few months ago with Billy's liver, and the 'spots' that were discovered...........
Thank you ALL, for your continued Support, Thought's, and Prayer's.

Thur. 7 Dec. 2006  Today is the 1010th day on Billy's transplant calendar.
1,537 day's living in the "World of Cancer".

Welcome back to Billy's Page, we hope this update finds you all well.

Yet another 'milestone' has been met, in Billy's fight to defeat cancer. Billy is officially done with PT (physical therapy) for his leg. Billy's therapist was so happy to call us with the new's, as she told us that Billy's progress is at the point that he can return to 'Normal' activities, keeping in mind his limitations. Billy's strength in his leg is as good as it's gonna get with PT, and will get stronger as he grows, and exercises it on a daily basis. It is just amazing as to how far Billy has come. If you didn't see the 26 inch scar running down his leg, you'd never know something was amiss, let alone the fact that he is a 2 time cancer SURVIVOR. Of all the obstacles Billy has overcome, this brought a big grin to his face. Billy has worked so hard over the past 2 years, twice a week, to get his leg back to as NORMAL as it can be, and to think that most pediatric surgeons would rather take the leg, than save it. Billy's surgeon's 1st words to Billy over 4 years ago was, "You're not gonna lose your leg, I promise".

When was the last time you saw a TV commercial about Childhood cancer? Probably never. Can you do something about that? Will you do something about that? We do, everyday......................

Thur. 30 Nov. 2006  Today is the 1003rd day on Billy's transplant calendar.
1,530 day's living in the "World of Cancer".

Welcome back to Billy's Page, we hope this update finds you all well.

One Thousand and three days since Billy received his life saving bone marrow transplant. At time's it is just unbelievable when we look back at where we were when we entered the "World of Cancer", and walked the halls of uncertainty. It is utterly amazing, and nothing short of a Miracle, at how well Billy is doing; both mentally and physically. There hasn't been a day gone by, that we haven't gotten up in the middle of the night and gone into Billy's room and felt his heart beat. Go ahead.................ask me what I'm Thankful for.

Billy continue's to do very well in School, and his PT is also progressing well. Billy is now able to walk up and down stairs(3 flights today) without the use of the hand rail, and one leg at a time (no stopping between steps). His left leg has grown at least another 1/2 inch, and he is about due for another lengthening. Billy is now 5' tall, a 1/2 inch taller than Alicia!! Amazing...............you bet it is.

Our Friend Mark (see link to the right) was released from the Hospital yesterday, and is now at home. Please visit his site, and wish him well in his recovery; and don't forget to tell him Billy sent 'ya!!

Please Pray for Billy........................and EVERY Child of Cancer
