"Billy's Page"

Welcome to Billy's Page, We hope you'll come away from your visit here with a greater understanding of the World of Childhood cancer. Yes, Billy's Page is about the 'C'  word, the BIG C, the Devil's disease; and yes Children get it too.
"Childhood cancer is NOT rare.......Awareness is."

For those of you who have been with us for the past 17 years as we've fought the fight of our lives, Welcome back. For those of you who are new to Billy's Page, and the World of Childhood cancer; please CLICK HERE and open your eye's, as well as your heart, to this terrible disease as you read Billy's story. You'll never look at a bald headed Child the same ever again, I promise you. There are 90 page's that make up the daily, weekly, and monthly update's as Billy fought for his life; as well as hundreds more page's I've authored that include photo's of Billy's surgeries, Dr's, Family and Friends. I have spelled out, in sometimes graphic ways, what it's like living in the "World of Childhood Cancer". As you thumb through the over 525 page's of this web site you'll laugh, cry, gasp, and just be overwhelmed with a new understanding about cancer, and our Children.

Here's something to rap your head around:
Chances are that your child will not get cancer....BUT, the odds of your child developing cancer by the age of 19 is approximately 1 in 330. But, cancer is second only to accidents as a cause of death in children. Jan 11, 2018
In the last 40 years, the overall survival rate for children's cancer has increased from 10% to nearly 90% today, but for many more rare childhood cancers, the survival rate is much less.
1 in 5 of children who are diagnosed with cancer in the US will not survive.
60% of children who survive suffer devastating late effects such as secondary cancers, muscular difficulties and infertility.
There are approximately 375,000 adult survivors of children’s cancer in the United States.
On average, pediatric hospitalizations for cancer cost almost five times as much as hospitalizations for other pediatric conditions. For 2015, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) budget was $4.93 billion. It is anticipated that childhood cancer received ONLY 4% of that sum or $198 million. That's 4 cents out of every dollar in the federal NCI budget. Totally unexceptable. #morethan4  Jan 27, 2017

**NOTE: Please know that this website is a complete re-vision of the previous original website. The 'old' format was outdated and not viewable on all devices so I re-designed the whole site to be more user friendly. Some links to other sources may not work on this new site as most of them are now inactive for one reason or another, but this new website will include ALL of the text entries I made through our journey, so please bare with me (wink). Most, if not all, of the photos that were on the original pages are also 'broken links' so I will try to include them in a photo collage somewhere in the new website, again, bare with me! If you would like to reach out to me please feel free to use my "CONTACT" button located at the bottom right of every page. Also please share this page with as many people that you feel would gain information from it regarding their journey through the 'World of Childhood cancer'.
